MCW Presents ‘Fight For A Cause’ in Hampton Park

PosterWEBOn Sunday November 23rd, Melbourne City Wrestling will team up with NHB Girls, as we present our first ever event in Melbourne’s south east. Casey Shire plays host to the ‘Fight For A Cause‘, Melbourne’s first ever family friendly, all-female professional wrestling event, in support of breast cancer survivors and Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA). BCNA is the peak national organisation representing and supporting Australians affected by breast cancer, and funds raised at this event will directly assist BCNA to support Australians personally affected by breast cancer. This support includes providing the My Journey Kit, a free comprehensive information resource for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. We’ve also set up a link for donations for those who can’t attend Sunday’s event. That can be found by clicking here, and all proceeds will be going directly towards BCNA.

Melbourne City Wrestling encourages the Hampton Park and greater community in the south east to attend and support this event alongside our existing loyal fanbase, which will feature the very best women’s professional wrestlers from all around Australia, as well as New Zealand. Competitors that MCW’s fans already know and love, such as KC Cassidy, Evie, Toni Storm and Savannah Summers have all received tryouts with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in the past few months, and many of the ladies featuring on this event have made a name for themselves internationally, competing across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Japan.

MCW Fourth Anniversary Extravaganza – More Than Just “Australian Wrestling”

In October 2010, Melbourne City Wrestling took over the several decade long legacy of Australian Championship Wrestling, holding its first event under the new branding at the Thornbury Theatre. The night would showcase many of Melbourne’s top professional wrestlers, as well as new faces from around the rest of the country, who had not yet been introduced to Victorian audiences. Now, on Saturday November 1st, Melbourne City Wrestling celebrates four years of thrilling live events, as we present our ‘Fourth Anniversary Extravaganza’ at the Essendon Ukrainian Hall.

Wrestlers from all around the nation will be competing in seven massive matches on November 1st, but the accolades that so many members of our roster have had, not just around Australia, but across the globe, have often gone un-noticed or may not even be realised by much of our loyal fanbase. Indeed, the majority of the men and women that compete for Melbourne City Wrestling month in and month out hold a substantial amount of international experience. Lets go down the list…

Now, we’re proud to announce that a Triple Threat match will take place, between three talents from across Australia AND New Zealand! MCW ‘Clash of the Titans’ Main Event Announced!

match-maineventFollowing our massive debut in Craigieburn in 2013, Melbourne City Wrestling will be returning to the Craigieburn Leisure Centre on Saturday August 9th, as we present ‘Clash of the Titans!’ Front row tickets for the event sold out within the first 24 hours, and with ticket sales already well underway, the time has come for us to officially announce the main event for our return to Melbourne’s northern suburbs.

At Ballroom Brawl last month (available to watch online now), we witnessed the year long journey for Carlo Cannon reach a fitting conclusion, as he ended the 546 day title reign of Mike Petersen, and became the Melbourne City Wrestling Champion, his first major championship title in his nine year career. That same night, we saw Elliot Sexton win the Ballroom Brawl Rumble, making him the number one contender to Cannon’s newly won championship, which he declared he’d be cashing in the following month. On June 14 at New Horizons, Sexton and Cannon fought for the MCW Championship in a back and forth spectacle, with the crowd evenly split between the two combatants. However, the match was ruled a no contest, thanks to the interference of the MCW Tag Team Champions, Dowie James and Adam Brooks: The Loose & The Wreckless. Earlier in the night, James & Brooks were refused a championship title shot by Cannon, should he retain the title. Taking matters into their own hands, the main event was ruined, and both Carlo Cannon and Elliot Sexton left dazed and confused.

The Ballroom Brawl Rumble returns to the Thornbury Theatre on May 17!

For the third year running, the ‘Ballroom Brawl Rumble’ will be returning to Melbourne City Wrestling on May 17, as part of our Thornbury Theatre mega-event! The match format is simple: many of the biggest and brightest stars in Melbourne City Wrestling will compete for the right to be named the number one contender to the MCW Championship, and in order to claim their position as the top contender, they have to be the last person standing in the ring. To be eliminated, you have to be thrown over the top rope, and have both feet touch the floor, and competitors will enter the match every minute, with their place in the match being decided via a ballot beforehand.

Past winners have included Danny Psycho and Carlo Cannon, with the latter cashing in his shot at the MCW Championship the same event that this years Rumble will be taking place. So without any further ado, we are proud to announce the first four competitors into this years Ballroom Brawl Rumble!
