GD Grimm to face Slex at Riot in Melbourne

GD Grimm’s interactions with MCW have been full of controversy

At ‘Riot in Melbourne’ on Friday June 29th, Riot City Wrestling’s top big man, GD Grimm will be facing off against the recently reformed Slex, one of the very best wrestlers in Australia today, in a special preview match ahead of our first ever ‘Ballroom Brawl Rumble’ match, taking place on July 14.

During his ongoing tenure at RCW, GD Grimm has shown he is wild, reckless and unpredictable, and demonstrated that in his MCW debut back in March. After attacking MCW staff and security at ‘Tension Rising’, Grimm then attacked the injured Tommy Hellfire, as the former MCW Champion was attending to his understudies. Was this a declaration of intent? Or a gross misjudgement made by GD Grimm of his own accord?

Regardless of his reasoning, GD Grimm has put himself right in the middle of the escalating tension building between MCW and RCW. On the other hand, Slex has found himself as a new fan favourite, after his longtime tag team partner and best friend, Carlo ‘Cash Money’ Cannon, viciously superkicked him following his loss in a stellar encounter with Paul London back in April, so a tick in the win column would definitely go a long way to setting the Totally Addictive one back on the right path.

In anticipation of his upcoming match with Slex, and to try and find out his future intentions, MCWNews.net interviewed GD Grimm:

Q: Things started all smiles with MCW, what changed?
A: From my point of view what changed was the purpose. It started off as an agreement between RCW and MCW. A talent exchange program to expose both of our crowds to new and exciting matches. For the wrestlers involved it was a way to test their skills against new opposition and take their wrestling to even greater heights. Plus bigger backing meant bigger winners purse. But pretty soon the purse wasn’t enough. Pride was on the line. The whole agreement basically changed from RCW and MCW, to RCW vs MCW.

Q: MCW have sent competitors to RCW, how was this received by the rest of the RCW locker room?
A: It’s a mixed reaction, obviously some get a bit more respect then others. Guys like Jacko and Brooksy are fine, they get along with everyone and everyone gets along with them. Guys like Ryan Rollins, Carlo Cannon, even your champ Matt Silva just didn’t fit in right from the beginning. It’s very hard to break a first impression.

Q: RCW have become a force to be reckoned with in Adelaide, what do you think makes RCW such a strong force?
A: What lots of people don’t understand is what Riot City represents. To me, Riot City is more than just a cool name for a pro wrestling company. Riot City is that place you go to in your mind when you know its time to switch on and step up. Everytime I step foot into the RCW academy I leave merry old Adelaide behind. I walk through those gates and I know I have to step up my game because i know everyone else in there is working with purpose, lifting with purpose, training with purpose and that purpose is to be the best. That purpose is what drives us, it pushes us all. Separately we are a bunch of individuals who train to win their next pay check. Together we are an army with the green flame of Riot City burning inside us. We will defend our city because we know, brick by brick, how hard we worked to build those walls.

Q: After your match debut match with Dowie James, you went on to attack MCW rookies and then an injured Tommy Hellfire, how do you justify your actions? and are you worried about the consequences?
A: I don’t think I need to justify a thing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, all I did was teach those rookies a valuable lesson. A lesson that every pro in this country has learned before; if you get in the ring, you accept the risk of getting hurt. Those rookies got in the ring, stuck their noses in my business, and I took them to school. You don’t go swimming with the sharks then blame the shark for taking a bite. In regards to Mr Fire, he may be one of your founding fathers, but as far as I’m concerned he’s a two faced piece of crap. He might have you guys believing he’s all honorable and just. But his past actions have spoken for themselves.

Q: What is the message you are trying to send to MCW?
A: There is no message, there is no hidden meaning. It’s just action and reaction. MCW wrestlers thought they could just walk into Riot City and do what they please, now they’re finding out that we don’t back down so easily.

Q: You’re facing off against a former MCW champion Slex, and you’ve been entered into the ‘Ballroom Brawl’ in July. Do you any messages for Slex and the rest of the MCW roster?
A: I’ve watched Slex for years, he’s one of Australia’s top competitors. He’s got strength, size and speed but he gets caught up in the show. He dances his way to the ring like a muppet, believes his own hype and doesn’t take his opponents seriously. That’s why he lost the belt to Silva, and thats why he’s gonna lose this match to me. If he puts his mind to it, we’re going to have a hell of a fight, if he doesn’t, I’ve got some size 16 boots that are going to walk right over him…”
