Proving Ground match to take place at Final Battle on Friday night

2012 has been a break-out year for Adam Brooks.

The last year has seen the rise of Adam Brooks from Matt Silva’s tag team partner, to a tremendous singles wrestler in his own right. Now, at the Dragonfly on Friday night, Brooks will participate in a ‘Proving Ground’ match against a relatively new face to Melbourne City Wrestling: the returning Gabriel Wolfe! Continue reading →

MCW crowns their first ever Tag Team Champions this Friday night

8 teams entered, now only 2 stand. Who will be the first ever MCW Tag Team Champions?

Back in July, Melbourne City Wrestling announced that an eight team tournament would be held in the shows leading up to Worlds Collide, with the winners being crowned the inaugural MCW Tag Team Champions. Now, after the qualifying and semi-final rounds, we are down to our final two teams: Hard Way Inc and KrackoLantern. These two teams will fight THIS FRIDAY NIGHT at the Thornbury Theatre

Formed at the beginning of the year, the team of KrackerJak and Jacko Lantern have become one of the biggest crowd pleasing acts in MCW history. KrackoLantern overcame SexRock and the BFF’s in order to find themselves in the finals of the tournament.

Hard Way Inc comprises Mike Burr and Jay Andrews, along with Joffa Corfe, who is best known as the leader of the Collingwood Cheer Squad. Since debuting at MCW Vendetta in January, Hard Way Inc have gone from strength to strength, and in the course of the tournament, they steamrolled through The Vanity Project and Reckless Air, in order to make it to the finals.

A look at how both teams have made the final

Its worth noting that when Hard Way Inc made their debut in MCW, they did so by beating down KrackerJak and Jacko Lantern. Both teams feuded through the first part of the year, with KrackoLantern ultimately coming out successful in their first match. Seven months down the track, and both teams have risen to the top of the tag team ranks in Melbourne City Wrestling. Now, with an added element to the match, both teams are not only fighting for pride and supremacy, but for the right to be named as the first ever co-holders of the MCW Tag Team Championship title belts.

Who will come out on top? After his injury at the hands of Reckless Inc in September, will Joffa play an assist to Hard Way Inc in the match? Or will KrackoLantern cement themselves as more than just an odd couple pairing?

5 Minutes with Mike Petersen

After several clashes in recent months, Matt Silva and Mike Petersen will finally face each other in the ring.

For the last sixteen months, Mike Petersen has been a man on a mission. After losing a bout to Matt Silva at Ballroom Brawl 2011, Petersen was sought out by famed Australian Wrestling manager Sebastian Walker, and since then, is yet to lose a match. Now, as we approach MCW Worlds Collide on Friday November 16 at the Thornbury Theatre, MCW News sat down with ‘The Natural Athlete’ to get his thoughts on his career thus far, and the rematch we’ve all been waiting for, this time with the MCW Championship on the line:

Roger Ventura’s opponent announced for Worlds Collide

Roger Ventura is making his way back to Melbourne for World Collide

At the start of October, we announced that New Zealand’s own Roger Ventura would be returning to Melbourne City Wrestling at Worlds Collide, and now, we are pleased to finally announce Ventura’s opponent for our second anniversary supershow.

On November 16 at the Thornbury Theatre, Roger Ventura will face a man who has been on a hunt to rid MCW of what he feels are stupid gimmicks, weak attempts at humour, and overall, the dog and pony show which he feels has no place in professional wrestling. That man is Dowie James. Continue reading →
