Robbie Eagles is a man who has not been seen in Melbourne City Wrestling since September last year, but on Saturday May 11, he will make his return to the Thornbury Theatre when we present Ballroom Brawl. In his time away, Eagles has captured the PWA Heavyweight Championship in his home state of New South Wales, and has continued making a name for himself as one of the best new talents in Australia today. Last year at the Thornbury Theatre, Melbourne City Wrestling presented the first annual twenty person Ballroom Brawl Rumble, with much fanfare and success. This year, we are bringing the Rumble back at MCW Ballroom Brawl on Saturday May 11, with the winner of the bout being entered into the main event of our Third Anniversary Event in October. Clash of the Titans was MCW fans last chance to see Matt Silva before he heads to WWE.

After bidding a fond farewell to the Dragonfly Restaurant last month, Melbourne City Wrestling moved a short distance to the Tullamarine Public Hall on Spring Street, holding ‘Clash of the Titans’ in front of a jam packed, standing room only crowd on April 13th.

In the opening match, Andrew Phoenix faced one of Australia’s most renowned professional wrestlers, TNT. The New South Welshman put up a valiant fight against Phoenix, but in the end, he fell to the Celtic Cross, albeit with some help from Zoe O’Neill at ringside. Continue reading →

Cremator and Frost are out for revenge at Ballroom Brawl.

It was meant to be a special one off occasion: on Friday March 15, Steve Frost and the Cremator made a return to Australian wrestling, competing for the first time in six years, against Hard Way Inc, in a non title match. But on the night, the arrogant Hard Way Inc decided to put their belts up on the line, and to the shock and delight of the packed out audience at the final Dragonfly event, Frost & Cremator would win the titles from Mike Burr and Jay Andrews.

Over the last two months, we have seen a bitter war of one upmanship between the MCW Champion, Mike Petersen, and fan favourite Tommy Hellfire. It all started at MCW Uprising on February 22, when Hellfire interrupted Petersen’s post match celebrations after defeating Damian Slater, and declaring that he felt Petersen could in fact be beaten, before hitting the TKO on the Champion. Petersen responded by costing Hellfire his match against the Enforcer at Curtain Call on March 15, before setting up a No Holds Barred match for the MCW Championship, which we will see on May 11 at the Thornbury Theatre.
